Passion series

The "Passion" sculpture series is a bold attempt to capture, through ceramics, the emotional and physical intensity that binds people together. These sculptures transport us to a world of fervent experiences, where internal desire and external unity merge into monumental forms. In these works, passion is not merely an emotion but a powerful force capable of consuming, transforming, and transcending. Each figure seems to burst forth, conveying the depth of emotions and the intensity of human connection.

The sculptures are crafted with deliberately emphasized textures that accentuate the vibrancy and power of emotions. The color palette—ranging from subdued to vibrant tones—highlights the contrasts and layers of passion, expressing its inner energy and unquenchable flame. These pieces tell the story of a moment when individuals become one, losing themselves in a fleeting instant of absolute unity. Each one embodies the irresistible pull toward oneness and fulfillment.

Every Year, a New Sculpture

Since 2019, I have been adding a new piece to this series each year. Every sculpture is essentially a new color, which dramatically influences the impression and character of the work. It’s fascinating to see how a simple change in color can transform the perception of these sculptures, breathing new life and meaning into each piece. Each new creation is not born by chance; rather, it is a thoughtful evolution, shaped by the audience's response to previous works. Through each sculpture, I explore and reinterpret these reactions, letting them guide me as I delve deeper into the essence of this series. This ongoing journey is a reflection of both artistic growth and the dynamic dialogue between the work and its viewers.

Yet, passion is not only a dark force. It can be a source of extraordinary emotions, bringing joy and filling one’s life with happiness. Passion inspires. How many masterpieces have been born in the throes of passion?

Unique handcrafted work

Each sculpture is a unique piece, crafted entirely by hand. The process begins with shaping the clay body, which must be hollow—a requirement that demands precision and skill to minimize the risk of deformation during drying and firing. The drying process is slow, taking around a month to ensure even moisture evaporation. Rapid drying is not an option, as it would lead to cracking.

Once dry, the sculpture undergoes an initial bisque firing in a kiln at 2282°F (1250°C). After this, it’s coated with multiple layers of glaze, adding color and texture to the surface. The glazed piece is then fired again to set the finish and create depth in the color. In some cases, additional firings are carried out to achieve the desired aesthetic and structural qualities.
