Working with ceramics is inherently deeply philosophical. You work with a material that has been ageless for ages and at the same time fragile as human life.....
A fragile eternity...
Multiple firing at 2280°F (1250C)
I start moulding the mould from the clay, making sure it remains hollow inside and it is a careful and very difficult process. The clay then dries slowly over a month, as rapid drying risks cracking. Once completely dry, the sculpture undergoes an initial firing at 2280°F (1250°C).
After that, I apply layers of brightly coloured glaze and then fire again. Each step carries a risk of cracking, which means I have to start again. During drying, the pieces shrink and warp slightly and the glazes melt and blend to reveal unique colours.
Each step shapes the final result, making each sculpture truly one of a kind.

The Fragile Beauty of Unity
This sculpture represents a conceptual exploration of the fragility of human existence and its connections within the context of social and existential uncertainty. It brings to light philosophical questions about the nature of unity, its resilience, and its inevitable vulnerability to rupture. At its core is a metaphorical interpretation of interdependence: on the one hand, the foundation of harmony, and on the other, a fragile point within a modern world defined by conflict and instability.
The choice of material—ceramics—is no coincidence. Its physical properties, combining fragility and strength, serve as a direct allegory for human life. The sculpture underwent three high-temperature firings at 1250°C, underscoring the process of transformation and fortification—akin to the inner and outer resistance of a person facing the pressures of the external world.
The composition and textures of the sculpture exhibit a unique balance between contrasting elements: the stillness of form and the dynamism of lines, the unity of composition and its fragmentary nature. The visual language of the piece is built on the interplay of opposites, reflecting the concept of dichotomy—connection and separation, harmony and tension, stability and its dissolution.
This sculpture also raises questions about the temporality of human bonds and the need for their preservation. It engages the viewer through universal symbols and emotional forms, inviting a dialogue about how unity can exist amid fragility and instability.
